Anchored on this year’s theme “We Make Change Work for Women”, the celebration aims to highlight the empowerment of women as active contributors to and claimholders of development. This pursuit of development is also anchored on the commitment of “Malasakit at Pagbabago” or True Compassion and Real Change.

 The Biodiversity Management Bureau – Gender and Development has lined up activities to take part on the celebration. These activities include a funwalk on the kickoff activity of the office on March 11, 2019 at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center and the BMB’s 3^rd Women’s Forum on April 02, 2018 at the B Hotel, Quezon City.

The Philippine Commission on Women invites advocates of women’s rights to sport purple clothes or accessories every Thursday to show their support and join the call to advance women’s rights and gender equality and end discrimination against women.

Proclamation No. 227 series of 1998 provides for the observance of the month of March as Women’s Role in History month while Republic Act 6949 series of 1990 declares March 8 of every year as International Women’s Day.

 March of every year is declared as National Women’s Month.
