The DENR together with the DOT and DILG will be mandated as core agencies to promote responsible tourism in Protected Areas and encourage local communities and local government units to support the Year and Month of Protected Areas as they are direct beneficiaries of the revenues generated from visitations in Protected Areas.
The DENR will be mandated as the lead agency for the Year of Protected Areas and monthly celebrations thereafter. The DENR will drive the main communication and strategies, and other agencies will come in to provide support and to integrate into their own efforts to create awareness for the campaign and to engage both Filipinos and international markets. On the other hand, the partner agencies (i.e., the DOT and DILG) will be providing support to the campaign by integrating the Year of the Protected Areas and its supporting messages to their own campaigns this year to promote sustainable and domestic tourism. They will be leveraging their existing efforts and budget allocations to integrate promotional activities for the featured protected areas. Furthermore, they will assist as discussed in marketing the featured PAs using agreed upon branding for the campaign through its channels (traditional and social media).
