DENR-PAWB recently set-up the marine turtle nesting diorama for exhibit at Camp Lirvir B. Roque, Brgy. Duale, in Limay, Bataan. The Camp is the venue of the celebration of the Diamond (60th Year) Jubilee of the Boy Scout of the Philippines (BSP) which was held on March 14-18, 2012. The event was hosted by the local government of Limay as it coincided with the 20th BSP-Bataan Council Jamborette.

Camp Director and Limay Municipal Councilor Antonino L. Joaquin, Chairman on the Committee of Environmental Protection anticipates that the diorama will serve as a tool in promoting awareness in the conservation of the endangered marine turtles among the 3,100  Boy Scouts of the Philippines who participated in the Camp.

The local government of Limay supports the marine turtle conservation program of the DENR. Accidentally captured marine turtles are usually released back to the waters of Limay. Barangay volunteers regularly monitor and protect marine turtle eggs laid along the beach of Brgy. Luz Kitang, a nesting site of olive ridley in Limay. About forty seven (4) newly emerged olive ridley hatchlings were reportedly released to the sea by local officials and residents of said barangay. (Photo courtesy of Emie T. Ramoso)
